Joyner Sr, William (Brother, Bill) - 74 of Mays Landing was called home on September 15, 2020 after battling cancer. He was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ on August 17, 1946 to Robert and Ada Joyner and attended Atlantic City Schools. He resided in Pleasantville, NJ for over forty years before moving to Mays Landing. He attended the Job Corp in Winslow, Arizona where he received a certification in auto mechanics. He held various jobs over the years as a transmission specialist, equipment operator and limo driver. He then became the proud owner and operator of Dakota Services, Inc and Personal Transportation Services for many years. He rendered kind and compassionate service transporting many dialysis patients throughout Atlantic County.

William was known for his sense of humor and warm caring nature to all. He had a passion for cars and oldies music. His 1978 Lincoln Town Car, Cartier Edition was his prized possession. Above all, he cherished his family and time spent together. Grandfather was his favorite title. Poppy, as he was proudly called by his grandchildren and many of their friends, enjoyed being a part of their lives and activities.

William is survived by his beloved wife of forty years Margaret (Peggy) Joyner; daughters, Shawn Joyner of Arizona and Gina (Riccitiello) and son-in-law, Mark Miller of Mays Landing; grandchildren, Joseph and Megan Miller and close in-laws, Robert and Virginia Reale of Mays Landing. He is also survived by his sister, Ernestine Temple of Pasadena, California and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; son, William Taylor (TJ) Joyner, Jr; sisters, Charlotte (Joyner) Canada, Anna (Temple) Scott, Marion and Carol Temple and brothers, Edward, Whitney and Billy Temple.

A man known by many names is a man well loved...our dear, sweet William, Bill, Brother, Hon, Dad, Pop, Poppy, Uncle and friend will be forever in our hearts.

A special thank you to Dr Devon McKenzie and staff at the AtlantiCare Cancer Center, the staff at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Centers and AtlantiCare Hospice.Your compassionate care was greatly appreciated.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September, 19, 2020 at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ 08330, where family and friends may call from 10:00 - 12:00. A service will immediately follow.

Private Condolence

Peggy, Gina, Mark, Joe, Megan I send to you all my empathy in my condolence. Bill has gone home and to his rest. He was a friend, brother, and at times a father. He chose how he would live his life and did so with zeal. And in the end, chose how he would leave this life. Celebrating his life and the time God lent him to you is what we do now. We will always remember the lessons he imparted and will teach them to others. That's his eternal life this side. Rest in Paradise King your time with us is done, and we thank you.

Now I must speak to you Peggy. This emptiness you feel will be with you for more time than you would like. To walk with a smile and hold your head up will be painful moments that you will sometimes think you can't endure. The tears will pour like rain at times. To lose your spouse has no comparison. You and Bill shared forty (40) years of marriage. Watching your children grow and creating memories. Being each other's rock and comfort in all times. Sometime it will seem your strength and faith is all you'll have. But you need to know that you're not being a burden asking for help. Family has you and will always hold you up. God has you and he will send you his comforting spirit. And one morning when you wake, God will restore your joy and your memories will fill your void. God's blessings over you and family.

Steve Jackson

Steve Thank you for all your kind loving words. You have always been there for Bill and me as a dear family member. I have watched you weather this same storm and I hope my oars will carry me with the same faith, and love as you. Peg

Until we meet again...My Friend...My "Brother!" Many Fond Memories to live with for the rest of our Lives! We are the only people in the history of Atlantic City to drive your Mom's Chrysler on many, many occasions from the house on New York Avenue to the Inlet in REVERSE and never get caught! We sure did enjoy Life! Rest in Peace! Our Peace and Love to the Family! Bob Schilling

Thank you Bob for your kind words. Brother held those same fond memories and often shared "tails" of your escapades in Atlantic City! Stay safe and well, Peggy and family.
