The Right Honorable Douglas MacArthur Yearsley died peacefully at AtlanticCare Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey on 21 January 2020 at the age of 72. Douglas is survived by his wife Bonnie (Szigethy); his son Michael (Diana); his brothers Elmer and Kevin (Donna); and his grandchildren Joseph, Douglas, and Lillian. He is preceded in death by his father Elmer and mother Elizabeth (Kier/Neeff) and his son Andrew.

Douglas was born on 6 June 1947 in Somers Point, NJ. He graduated from Vineland Sr. High School in 1965 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. I am so deeply sadden to hear the news of my friends passing. I worked with him at Burdette Tomlin in the early 90's. I only lived and worked there for five years but what an impact he made on my life. I frequently tell others about him because he had that wonderful lasting personality that I missed and so rare to find. Just this Christmas my children (Annie and Daniel) and husband James talked about the Walton's Homecoming movie that Doug did a voice intro for because of a short story he entered into a contest in the Better Homes and Garden magazine. I think that is all correct, its what I remember but its been many years I still have the magazine and the VHS movie! We talked about all the fun we all had when we all went to his home and had a fire in the fire pit and cooked hot dogs and marshmallows. So much fun! Once we all went to a circus in his township as we all had a great time but mostly laughed because it was really a poodle show! He loved the Walton Mountain and he loved Robert E. Lee. Of course I was from Appomattox where the surrender took place so we always had lots to talk about. He was infectious at making you laugh and be happy! He had a brilliant mind such a kind and warm heart. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with him and be his friend. Many years have past but the loss is very personal. Extending my deepest sympathy to Bonnie and Michael.

Our young lives were happily punctuated with moments shared with Douglas, Bonnie Sue, Michael, and Andrew. Weekends up in Weymouth, summers down the shore, and Camp Beisler made our childhood an unforgettable one. Thank you for being a huge part of our lives. We will forever miss you dear Douglas.
Love, the Stetser girls

Douglas,

We thank you for all the wonderful times we have shared together in the past with Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra where you shared Bonnie's love of music and your wonderful support. Most recently as General Lee carrying our Civil War lantern when we sang through the streets of various communities. I am sorr I dont have any pictures of you in Period Style Costume. I THINK YOU HID from the Camera!! We enjoyed having you in our group and we are so happy we were able to share in our love of history, during fun fellowship together while enjoying food and laughter. We know you will keep them hopping in heaven!

Thank you again for great memories,

With Love,
Donna Marie Berchtold, Howard, Heather, Lauren ( Berchtold) Kean, and the Saint Nicholas Aurora Carolers
