Obituary for Brandon Nicholas Burbee

Brandon Nicholas Burbee
Brandon Nicholas Burbee of Millersville, MD passed away on December 31st, 2018.

Brandon was a casino cage assistant manager at Maryland Live! Casino and was recognized as a leader of the quarter nominee during the 3rd quarter of 2017. He previously worked 8 1/2 years for the Atlantic Club Casino (previously the Hilton Hotel & Casino) in Atlantic City as a casino cage supervisor and was recognized during his time there as a supervisor of the month. Brandon was passionate about his work and enjoyed helping people. He posted, “I enjoy the puzzles and problems it poses and like progressive thinking and coming up with both short and long-term solutions. I have described Casino Cage work as ‘moments of boredom coupled with moments of sheer terror.’ It teaches you a great deal about learning from your mistakes and staying alert at all times so those ‘terrifying’ moments don't creep up on you.”

Prior to moving to Maryland almost 5 years ago, Brandon was born in Atlantic City and lived in and around Atlantic City all of his life. He graduated from Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, NJ. He also attended some college classes at Atlantic Cape Community College in May’s Landing, NJ. Brandon was proud to have attended boot camp for the Marines, but was medically discharged prior to graduation due to injury.

Brandon enjoyed computers immensely and spent many hours building and working on them. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing jokes and anything he found humorous with friends and family. His other interests included reading, writing, online gaming, Star Wars, and his love of animals. He received an award while in school for his writing in an annual statewide writing competition sponsored by the New Jersey Future Problem Solving Program.

He is survived by his father: Anthony Burbee of Mays Landing NJ, sister: Jean-Marie Burbee (Michelle Tomko) of Atlantic City NJ, two uncles: Mark (Karen) Burbee of Fort Mills SC and Jay (Gayle) Burbee of Henniker NH one aunt: Carol (Burbee) and Wally Hauser of Bedford NH two cousins: James (Kristy) Burbee of Mount Holly NC and Sara (Burbee) and Michael Bridges of Charlotte NC

He is predeceased by his mother: Kathryn (Burbee) and step-father John Fortis, grandmothers: Jean Buster and Marie Pierce, grandfathers: Joseph Burbee Sr. and James Buster Sr. and uncle: James Buster

Friends and Family are invited to gather in Brandon’s memory on Wednesday, January 16th from 1pm-2pm at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2pm. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
