Writing an Obituary

What Is An Obituary?

More than merely a 'good-bye' to the deceased, this is a farewell which can, in chronological order, detail the life of the deceased. A newspaper obituary serves as a public notification that an individual has passed away and details of the services that are to take place.

Guidelines for composing an Obituary

Please keep in mind that these are only guidelines.  Not all of this information needs to be included.  Please choose which are most important to you.  Keep in mind that newspaper charge by the line; a more detailed obituary will have a higher cost.  If the obituary cost could be a burden for your family, you could consider a brief newspaper obituary; then write a more detailed obituary which we would publish on our website.
