Obituary for Gary Cimadori

Gary Cimadori
Gary Cimadori, long time resident of Allegan, Michigan and formerly of Absecon, New Jersey, died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 13, 2018. Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on July 3,1960 to his parents Vincent Cimadori and Shirley Ann Schwert-Conover. Gary grew up in Absecon, graduating class of 1979 from Oakcrest High School.

Gary was an avid sports fan, especially loved football; participating in Pop-Warner Youth League and high school. He could be seen zipping around Absecon Island and Mays Landing in his beloved Red Triumph convertible.

Gary and his siblings would accompany their dad on road trips to various auction houses and flea markets in the tri-state area in search of the best bargains. Needless to say, all the boys became great shoppers.

He enjoyed a brief stint as a pastry chef during the hey days of the 1st casino “Resorts”. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1983 and had a stellar career as personal chef for admirals and dignitaries traveling on the USS Helena 725 and USS John Adams 620. He retired from the Navy in 1993 (USS Arizona). During his tenure he was stationed in Hawaii, Scotland and Singapore. A true patriot, Gary was the top recruiter in the “Grand Rapids and Muskegon County area. After his Honorable Discharge, Gary worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Gary and his wife Linda enjoyed the beauty and relaxation of traveling aboard Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines, to ports of call, such as Granada, Aruba and St. Lucia.

They enjoyed time traveling the Great Lake state to shop, eat and indulge their senses surrounded by nature and historical landmarks. By far, a favorite for each was a “Block House” off Rt. 31 in Muskegon County which sits on a former Indian Reservation, overlooking Lake Michigan. A favorite spot to picnic, fish and hike.

“GMC” (Gary) is survived by his loving wife, Linda; Son Vincent Cimadori and daughter Melissa Lynn Blevins; Brothers Kenneth (Georgianna) and Michael Cains, and his “bff” yellow lab “little cimi”. Gary was a “Pop-Pop” to four grandchildren and also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by father Vincent Cimadori and mother Shirley Conover.

Relatives are friends are invited to a visitation with his family, Wednesday June 20, 2018 from 7pm-9pm; Thursday June 21, 2018 from 10am-11am at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ., where services will be held at 11 AM Thursday. Interment at Port Republic Memorial Park.
