Obituary for Diomedes Martinez

Diomedes Martinez
Diomedes Martínez, de 62 años, de Ventnor City, falleció tranquilamente rodeado de familiares y amigos el 8 de Mayo de 2017. El fue un profesor de matemáticas admirado en Pleasantville High School y un amoroso padre, esposo y amigo de todos. Su memoria vivira por siempre a través de su esposa, Nulkis; hijas, Mirian y Rocio; madre, Orfelina Gil; hermanos, Lela, Julio César, Lalo, Sandro, Amado, Bautista y muchos otros familiares y queridos amigos.

Una mente brillante, Diomedes comenzó su carrera docente en su país natal, República Dominicana, a la edad de 19 años. Continuó su búsqueda de conocimientos en la antigua Unión Soviética, donde se graduó con un título en economía agrícola. Su deseo de una vida mejor lo llevó a los Estados Unidos donde construyó una vida orgullosa con su esposa e hijas.

Diomedes es recordado como un intelectual, atleta apasionado, y una persona respetada y amada en su comunidad. Su paciencia e humildad inspiran a todos y hacían de el una persona única.

Los servicios se llevarán a cabo el sábado 13 de mayo de 1pm - 3pm en la Iglesia Epiphany Lutheran Church 306 S. Franklin Blvd, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.

Diomedes Martinez, 62, of Ventnor City, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 8th, 2017. A respected math teacher at Pleasantville High School, Diomedes was a loving father, husband and friend to all. His memory lives on through his beloved wife, Nulkis; adored children, Mirian and Rocio; caring mother, Orfelina Gil; loved siblings Lela, Julio Caesar, Lalo, Sandro, Amado, Bautista; many other family and dear friends.

A bright mind, Diomedes began his teaching career in his native country of Dominican Republic at age 19. He continued his pursuit of knowledge in the former Soviet Union where he attended university and lived for 6 years. His desire for a better life brought him to the US where he built a proud life with his wife and young daughters.

Diomedes is remembered as a star athlete, an intellectual, and a highly respected member of his community. His kindness, patience, and sense of humor inspired all who knew him.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 1pm – 3pm at Epiphany Lutheran Church 306 S. Franklin Blvd, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
