Obituary for Robert Hudson

Robert Hudson
Robert Hudson, “Bob”, 78, of Mays Landing, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 3, 2017 surrounded by his family. Robert was born in Somers Point, NJ on February 16, 1938 to the late George Hudson, Sr. and Rose Hudson (nee: Shellem).

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara (nee: Molz); his daughter Brenda Hudson-Zawacki and granddaughter Sydney Zawacki. He is also survived by his brothers George Hudson, Kenneth Hudson (Joan), and sister Nancy (Mike). Survived also by many nieces and nephews and his dog “Topper.” After graduating from Ocean City High School in 1956 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country as a reservist until 1963. He then spent 31 years working for Atlantic City Electric Co. where he retired as a field supervisor. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding one of his many Harley-Davidson’s throughout the years. Bob had a love for country music, especially listening to his favorite fiddle player, Jack Zawacki. He also enjoyed gardening. On any given weekend you could see him in his yard either pushing his lawn mower or raking leaves. For many years Bob also was a member of the Forest Fire Service as a warden located in Mays Landing. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial celebrating Bob’s life will be held on his birthday, February 16, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing. Family and friends are invited to gather from 11 AM – 1 PM and a service will be held at 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the St. Labre American Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004 ( 866-763-5496.
