Alba Simon (Tata)
Alba Marie Simon (Tata) died peacefully in Absecon, NJ on May 11, 2018. She was 91 years old.
Alba was born on August 12th, 1926 in Frankford, PA to Gaetano and Enes Tata. Before moving to South Jersey, Alba and her then-husband Milt ran a nursery that grew geraniums for local department stores in Feasterville, PA. They then relocated to Atlantic City, NJ where they owned and operated the Bea-Ann Motel. She later managed the Twin Screws Motel in Brigantine, NJ, and then finally worked as Supervisor of Housekeeping at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City until she retired. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing at Dom Polski’s in Absecon, NJ and playing bingo.
Alba is preceded in death by her brothers Angelo, Andrew and John Tata and her daughter Florence Matkovich. She is survived by her daughters Alba McKenna and Joyce Meloni; her grandchildren Keith Bartley (Traci), Sarah McKenna (fiance Joe Walker), Jimmy McKenna (girlfriend Kristen), Jimmy Meloni (Erica), and Julian Meloni (Katie); niece Enes Ring (Tom); great grandchildren Cortni and Nathan Bartley, Monte and Knox Meloni, and soon to be born Jaxon Walker; and son-in-laws Roscoe Bartley (Debra) and Fran McKenna.
A celebration of Alba’a life will be held on Friday May 18, 2018 at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, 525 St. Louis Ave., Egg Harbor City, NJ. A viewing will be held from 9:00-10:30 am with Mass immediately following. Burial at Egg Harbor City Cemetery will follow.
